SharePoint Reminder - Quick Start Guide

SharePoint Reminder is a complex software product and very flexible so there is a limit to how quick a quick start guide can be.

This is the suggested approach to understanding, installing and configuring the software

• Install the Web Part and Reminder Service and assign necessary permissions
• Use the Diagnostics utility to check everything is configure correctly.
• Review some of the Common Scenarios for examples of how to configure the Reminder Web Parts
• Create a new web part page and add a Reminder Web Part to it
• Configure the web part
  • Note - use the Email Redirect feature the first time you do this as it will allow you to be sure that emails are going to be sent as you expect
• Start the Configuration Tool to check that your web part has been found
• Consult the Troubleshooting guide and FAQ if something is not working as expected
  • 80% of problems are to do with 401 Unauthorized errors, especially the Local Loopback Check
